Kevin Kelly: Technology is the new Kingdom
If you haven’t already, watch this TED talk.
Kelly goes over what’s life wants, which is basically to continually expand, or as our chief scientist would say, to always probe the adjacent possible.
Most notably is his comments on technology’s growing focus on exploring methods of exploration. It is not enough to follow a process of exploration, one must continually look for weaknesses or variations on the process. This reminds me of an article about information architecture which argued that there is no holy grail approach to process.
This objective of exploring exploration is almost as recursive as his final thought: We all have a mission to find out what our mission is.
Hopefully at THE MOVEMENT, we can add to some methods for exploration, and help some people figure out how to figure out their mission. If you have any thoughts on these recursive thoughts, think them, then write them here.
